Cathy Glass ✓ 2 Summary Nobody’s Son: All Alex ever wanted was a family of his own Summary ´ 102 Ch looking forward to having a forever family of his own The introductions and move to his adoptive family go well But Alex is only with them for a week when problems begin What happens next is both shocking and upsetting and calls into uestion the whole adoption proces. I don t understand the rave reviews of this book and I use the term book looselyIt is not a story just a banal description of fostering a child and describing every day lifeHow many times does the author have to describe a bed time routine or a bath time routine or the school runThe non stop gushing about how perfect her own children are was irritatingSimilarly irritating was the holier than thou attitude and her mistrust of other foster parents as if she is the greatest foster mother to have ever existedThere is no warmth no emotion nothing Just endless description It reads like a case studyDeadly dull and the first and last title of hers I will ever read

Cathy Glass ✓ 2 Summary Nobody’s Son: All Alex ever wanted was a family of his own Summary ´ 102 Coming into care as a toddler and hell only be with her a short while before he goes to live with his permanent adoptive family But the present carers are expecting a baby and the foster mother isnt coping so Alex goes to live with CathyHe settles easily and is very mu. This is an incredibly moving true life story but be warned it s heartbreaking to read of Alex the poor little boy who puts all his hope into his new adoptive family only to be let down Not sure what went wrong but it seems to me that the social workers were so blinded by Edward and Rosemary s affluence that they didn t look deeply enough into their true feelings about adoption the husband didn t seem nearly as keen as the wife which to me should have been a huge red flag As Cathy said they seemed to have truly unrealistic expectations of course Alex and James were going to clash in the first few weeks as real siblings do yet the fact that James missed Alex after he left suggested that with a couple of sensible adults in charge things could have been worked through Still I believe that Cathy was right in what she told him about things working out for the best in the long term as I suspect he would always have been second best to this family s real son A really gripping story which I am now reading for the second time
