Review ò Black Dove: Mamá, Mi'jo, and Me Ì PDF, DOC, TXT, eBook or Kindle ePUB free Ana Castillo ½ 2 Review Download è PDF, DOC, TXT, eBook or Kindle ePUB free ½ Ana Castillo Ter her mothers crooning mariachi lyrics resonate once again Castillonow an established Chicana novelist playwright and scholarwitnesses her own sons spiraling adulthood and eventual incarceration Standing in the stifling courtroom Castillo describes a scene that could be any mothers worst nightmare But in a country of glaring and stacked statistics it is a nightmare especially reserved for mothers like her the inner city mothers the single mothers. Black Dove was a rambling book of memories I was disappointed by the descriptive writing At one point she uses the word humongous in a description of a mountain range I bought the book because it was featured at the local community college Previously I had read a book by Hector Tobar and it was such a good piece of literature that I bought other books by him After my disappointment I noticed Black Dove was printed by Feminist Press so I can guess the only reason her book is featured by the community college is so that Communism and homosexuality is given a platform Her life is not as uniue as she imagines Not uniue is that her son went to prison and she has no idea how she failed him Let me give her a hint She raised him with partners coming in and out of his life One long term partner was abusive and controlling Also she moved him around so there was a lack of stability in his childhood and he had a Communist father who was really no father at all There I solved her mystery for her To each their own and I m glad she can tell her story but my resentment is that a local community college would hold this book up as a representation of exemplary literature What would be a better representation is a book by a person straight or homosexual Capitalist or Communist who has a child raise that child in an environment conducive for positive human development
