Confess By Rob Halford

Rob Halford ä 1 FREE READ FREE DOWNLOAD ë SAGOLFBIDDER.CO.ZA ä Rob Halford FREE DOWNLOAD Confess By Rob Halford Rob Halford is the legendary frontman of Judas Priest one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time  Known as 'The Metal God' by his devoted global fan base Rob Halford has always subverted the norm and Confess will offer listeners a compelling and honest look at the struggles he has fa. I can t help but compare Rob Halford s Confess to KK Downing s thoroughly enjoyable autobiography given the common ground of the history of Judas Priest for both authors I like to think the 2 authors have probably done the same KK s book as indicated in the title Days and Nights In Judas Priest is largely about the fascinating history of the mighty Judas Priest and his part in that colourful history as the original guitar player in a band that he clearly loves or loved The only tangible demons that are laid bare in his autobiography are the long standing strained relationships that he had with Glenn Tipton and with the latter day band s manager Jayne Andrews It s not therefore a deep dive into the core of what makes him what he is as a human being he just comes across as an easy going working class bloke who is passionate about Heavy Metal and Judas PriestThe contrast with Rob s book as given away by the title Confess and Rob s contrite praying pose on the cover is that this book is primarily about the real Robert Halford a gay Christian man struggling to exist unnoticed really has no one seen the cover of Unleashed in the East and not thought about the Village People in a macho male orientated Heavy Metal world dreamt up by the Evil One himself To be honest I m not sure why he feels that he has to confess or pray for forgiveness as this implies that he has done something fundamentally wrong in being born gay Maybe that s just Rob s underlying religious guilt for being a Sinner coming to the surface in his confession As a result the book is heavily weighted to the cathartic outpouring that finally confessing this gay reality to the world gives him This inner struggle leads to alcoholism substance abuse deep unhappiness and loneliness but ultimately to personal redemption and salvation The story of what Judas Priest the iconic band is doing is really the backdrop to his unfettered confession and he pulls no punches at all when he lays bare his soul There is though enough Priest history to keep the story interesting for the casual Judas Priest fan There s the truth about the re recording of the Unleashed vocals back in the UK after the 1979 Japanese tour when Rob was suffering from a cold the recording of the many excellent albums the mammoth world tours the tortuous and ridiculous subliminal messages trial in the US in 1990 Rob s unintentional leaving of the band which was news to me the chance meeting with Andy Warhol at the 1979 Mudd Club concert and so on There are a few things that were surprising to me in the book notable of which is when he got blind drunk and tried to pull Paul Di anno of Iron Maiden Any pour soul who has actually read Paul s ghastly auto biography will know Rob was distinctly barking up the wrong tree on that oneHowever as the stories unfold and of the interesting concert or album writing anecdotes eventually lead directly to follow on experiences in Gay bars and public lavatories as Rob tries desperately to find a man that he could settle down with He also confesses with a wry smile to what the songs Jawbreaker Turbo Lover Raw Deal and Eat Me Alive were actually about although I would have thought anybody with a lyric sheet could have worked that out for themselves as the PMRC clearly did with the latter Funnily enough Grinder wasn t apparently written in this vein which is wonderfully ironic given the lyrics and it s contemporary Grindr web site namesake Also makes me wonder whether the Lochness Monster song was a clever lyrical metaphor that I hadn t completely grasped properly at the timeSo its a warts and all amusing no holds barred confession by Rob Halford the person the repentant sinner and the self proclaimed Metal God to his ultimate judge and jury the Judas Priest Fans So here goes one fan s judgementRobert Halford Fall to your knees and repent if you pleaseI ll just leave it at that English File : Intermediate Student's Book B (1Cédérom) keep the story interesting I m a big Priest fan but certainly not an over the top fanatic I can do without their thrashier moments so really relished this Can t fault him for his honesty At first I thought he d missed out an important issue when Ripper had to make way for his return but I ve since read it was an amicable decision so I can see now why he didn t dwell on it I suppose my only teensy weensy gripe with him and his history is towards the end of the book when he talks about trademarking the phrase Metal God That didn t sit well with me all a bit Gene Simmons to me
